Georgetown no longer posts new cases online. Where can I find and search D.C. Circuit cases?
What is this collection, and what does it cover?
The Georgetown Law Library makes the opinions of the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit available online for free. We started this collection in April 1995, and we added new cases through early February 2008.
Not all Opinions of the Court are available from the Court's website, and only those provided by the court are available in our online collection.
While the Library works to ensure the accuracy of these opinions, it does not make any warranties or representations regarding them. Before relying on any opinion, please use independent means to verify the status of the opinion and determine its precedential value.
The Library does not have access to the Court's docket, and, therefore, cannot confirm any case status information. You may visit the Official Court Website for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit for additional information.
Why does Georgetown Law Library have this collection of cases?
We want to provide an historical archive of cases from the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. When we began this collection, there were no other sources for these cases on the Internet. Today, there are other sources of this information, but we still find value in providing them online.
How often do you update cases?
We no longer post new cases to our website.
There's a case that is not on your site. Why not? Can it be added?
During the time we collected court cases and posted them online, we made every attempt to get all cases. If you find something missing from our collection, let us know, and we will see if it's possible to add the case.
There's a case in your database I don't like. Will you please remove it?
The short answer: No.
The longer answer: We intend this collection to be an historical archive, not a selection of cases. We try to keep all published cases from the Court. If we were to remove cases from our collection, this would compromise our mission to serve as an accurate reference for United States case law for this court.
If you wish to request that we remove your case from search engine indexes, please see the page describing our removal procedure.
How can I sort or search cases to find what I need?
On our site, you can search cases by party name and browse cases by year.
Cornell University provides a limited way to search all opinions for the U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeal.
I have another question not answered here. What should I do?
Let us know if you have questions about this court opinion collection.
