Can we get new chairs for the Oakley Reading Room?Jan

Yes. We are changing chairs in the Robert Oakley Reading Room this year. We need your input on picking comfortable seating, and we want feedback on what you like or don't like.

chair design optionsWe just received six new chair designs to test, and we invite you to come to the reading room in the E.B. Williams Library to test them out and give us your feedback.

View the photo of six chairs we just received as options for replacing the current seats. Please post your comments to this blog about any of these chairs. There are also comment forms on the table next to each chair, and you're also invited to email Nancy Wynn any comments. In your comments, please refer to the letter of the chair in the picture if possible.

Please note that these are just model designs, so we are not limited to the fabric colors or wood you see in the reading room. The biggest thing to test is how they feel.

Back in September, we tested three chairs from another company, which you can see in the blog post from that time.

The problem with the current chairs is that the seat cushions have been worn through. In order to find chairs that have a long-life, I would recommend that the chairs that have wooden seats and backs, and the library can provide pillows for those who need the additional comfort. If the library insists upon purchaing chairs with cushioned seats, there will be more complaints in another year, when those cease to be functional.

Please purchase wooden chairs, with wooden seats and backs. Chairs with cushions will only wear through like the current ones. Also, the chairs should have arms on them as well.
