What should I do if I’m graduating but I still have books out?

Return them! Your account will be charged a replacement fee for any books that are not turned in prior to the end of exams, even if they are not officially due by that time. In addition, Student Accounts and the Registrar will be unable to release your final transcript and diploma for graduation until your account is settled.

If you do have books out beyond the end of exams, return them no later than noon on Wednesday, May 18th. The replacement charge will be dropped and your final transcript and diploma will be released in time for the graduation ceremony.

After noon on Wednesday, May 18th, the library will be unable to waive the $120 per book charge for any unreturned books.

Any fines you may have incurred for late books prior to May 1st must be paid at Student Accounts.

The Wolff Library is freezing! Can you please turn the temperature down?

The library works closely with Facilities to provide patrons and staff with the most comfortable environment possible. We notified them and temperatures have moderated.

Please continue to report climate issues when it is uncomfortable so we can contact Facilities immediately. There are two ways to report a problem:

  • tell the staff at any library service desk and they would be happy to contact facilities, or
  • contact the Facilities office directly.

During business hours, patrons can call Facilities at 202-662-9330 or send a service request via the Facilities Service Request Form.

After hours, call the Department of Public Safety at 202-662-9325 and ask them to contact the engineer on duty.

There is no copy machine on the first floor of Williams. Why are there signs for one?

Recently the library removed the first floor photocopier because of low usage. Although we have taken down almost every sign about the former copier a few still remain, such as the copier icon on the first floor maps. Over the course of the year we will remove all signs about that machine. In the meantime feel free to notify the circulation desk with any comment about law library signs.
