Asian Legal Sources Research Guide

Introduction

This guide focuses on Asian legal sources generally with a special emphasis on China, Hong Kong, Japan, and Korea. The Wolff Library collects Asian materials that are primarily in English, and this guide focuses solely on English-language materials.

If you are getting started with your research, and would like help with researching foreign law in general, our research guide Foreign and Comparative Law will help you identify the basic sources and help you formulate a research strategy. If you want a quick background on the legal systems of each of the countries, consult Modern Legal Systems Cyclopedia INTL K530 .M62 1984 or Martindale-Hubbell Law Digest INTL KF190 .M45.

This guide will help you identify print resources, journals, databases, websites and other research guides that deal with Asian law generally and with legal topics specific to China, Hong Kong, Japan and Korea. Please note that subscription databases that are only available to the Georgetown Law community are indicated as GULC only.

The "Selected Print Sources" section for each jurisdiction highlights recent books the Library has received on a given jurisdiction, as well as looseleaf publications that contain chapters on the individual jurisdictions.
