Articles

There are several methods that will help you look for and find journal and newspaper articles. To look for articles in general, use a journal index. To find a copy of a known article, use the online Journal Finder (see below) or perform a title search in GULLiver on the title of the journal (not the article title) to see if the journal is in our library. Note the call number, volume, and page, and consult the shelf for the appropriate volume. The online Journal Finder database will produce a list of sources from which you may find your article online. You need only enter the name of the journal.

Legal Periodicals and Books (legal articles index, approx. 1980- ) - accessible from any Georgetown University campus computer, and by current Georgetown students, faculty and staff from off-campus. Also search this index in Westlaw (database ILP). If the full text of your chosen article is in the Westlaw articles database, there will be a link to it in the journal index record. The print equivalent of Legal Periodical and Books is Index to Legal Periodicals (1908 - ) in the Reading Room and on the third floor at call number KF8 .I4.

LegalTrac (legal articles index, approx. 1980- ) - accessible from any Georgetown University campus computer. Also search this index in Westlaw (database LRI). If the full text of your chosen article is in the Westlaw articles database, there will be a link to it in the journal index record. The print equivalent of LegalTrac is Current Law Index (1980 - ) in the Reading Room and on the third floor at call number KF8 .C8 .

ProQuest (nonlegal articles index) - accessible from any Georgetown University campus computer, and by current Georgetown students, faculty and staff from off-campus. Links to full-text article for many articles.

Bolling v. Sharpe

Bolling v. Sharpe, 347 U.S. 497 (1954), is the Supreme Court companion case to Brown that brought an end to racial segregation in the public schools of Washington, DC. Link to information on the Bolling conference held at Georgetown University Law Center on April 15 and 16, 2004.
