Bank for International Settlements site contains some very useful resources. The Publications section provides the full text of many working papers and documents from various committees of the BIS including the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision. The site also includes full-text articles from the BIS Review (back to 1997) and a frequently-updated list of links to central banks.

Financial Sector - World Bank Group makes a wide range of information on banking and related topics available on its web site. The section on Banking Systems contains many full-text publications and reports from the World Bank, as well as a collection of links. The site and the indidual sections are searchable.

Global Banking Law Database (GBLD) is a joint project of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. The GBLD consists of a collection of English translations of commercial banking, central bank, and deposit insurance laws of 17 jurisdictions. The laws may be viewed in HTML and downloaded both MS Word and PDF (Adobe Acrobat) formats. The GBLD is organized by topic and by jurisdiction. The list of 35 topics is based on the Basel Core Principles. It is possible to view the laws of two jurisdictions side by side on the same screen.

Hieros Gamos Guide to Banking Law includes banking news, links to international organizations, some foreign banking laws, United States banking laws, and links to other Internet resources.

Institute of International Bankers site is worth visiting mainly for its annual Global Survey of Regulatory and Market Developments in banking, securities and insurance covering 46 countries and the EU.

Mark Bernkopf's Central Banking Resource Center is a good place to find links and contact information for central banks and ministries of finance. At the current time (November 2000) however, the rest of the site contains many out of date resources and dead links. The home page indicates that a new site is in the works however, so it is worth checking back from time to time.
