Computer Learning Centers - Usage Policy

The Computer Learning Centers in both libraries serve primarily as classrooms for hands-on teaching of online research. Whenever classes are not taking place, students may use these rooms as computer labs.

Other Georgetown Law Center departments are welcome to use the rooms for training. Please follow these procedures:

  1. Reserve the room at least 2 days in advance. If you would like to check the availability of either room, please contact the Reference Desk in the E.B.Williams Library (202-662-9140) or the Wolff Library (202-662-4195).

    Contacts:
    Wolff Library
    : Mabel Shaw, ext. 9171, shawm@law.georgetown.edu.
Williams: Roger Skalbeck, ext. 9158, rvs5@law.georgetown.edu.

  2. The Wolff Library CLC is equipped with a SmartBoard -- a large computer display at the front of the room. If the trainer or presenter would like to use the SmartBoard, the key must be obtained from the the Wolff Circulation Desk. The Williams Library CLC has a projector. The cord and remote necessary to use a laptop are available at the Williams Circulation desk. If you do not have access to a laptop, please contact Roger Skalbeck. If the trainer needs to learn how to use the SmartBoard, please make arrangements with Mabel Shaw or Roger Skalbeck.
  3. After the class, in the Wolff CLC, the trainer should shut down the SmartBoard and return the key. In the Williams CLC, the trainer should return the cord and remote to the circulation desk.
  4. The computers available for each lab have current office productivity software including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and web access. It does not have a connection to the Law Center network. If the presenter needs to have access to files during the class, bring them on a USB flash drive. The presenter should not change any settings on equipment in either lab.
  5. There are 16 student computers in the Williams CLC and 12 in the Wolff CLC. They require the users to log in with their regular network logins. If anyone will be attending the session who does not have a GULC network login there is a training login and password available. These must be obtained in advance.
