Interlibrary Loan Policies

  1. Interlibrary Loan is only available to students, faculty, and staff at the Georgetown University Law Center. Main Campus and School of Medicine patrons are referred to the Main Campus Libraries InterLibrary Loan Services and Medical Library's Interlibrary Loan/Document Delivery Services, respectively.
  2. Complete bibliographic information must be provided by the patron.
  3. During busy times for the Interlibrary Loan borrowing office, a limit of six requests will be processed per person per day.
  4. Borrowed items must be returned on time. Interlibrary Loan is a privilege and a courtesy, and we cannot jeopardize our borrowing relations by failing to abide by the conditions imposed by the lending library.

For questions about Interlibrary Loan, please review the FAQ's, call (202)662-9154 or send an e-mail to law-ill@law.georgetown.edu

Notice

Warning Concerning Copyright Restrictions

The Copyright Law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material.Under certain conditions specified in the Law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproductions. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research." If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgement, fulfillment of that order would involve violation of the law.
