Who May Use the Library

General Policy

Georgetown Law Library is open to

Members of these groups should bring appropriate identification when they come to the Library. Only current Georgetown University students, faculty, and staff have borrowing privileges.

Federal Government Documents Access

The Library is not open to the general public, except that members of the general public have full access to United States government documents acquired by the Library through its membership in the Federal Depository Library Program. Please note that the library receives only a very small portion of depository materials. Government document patrons should search the online catalog or call the Reference Desk (202-662-9140) to verify that the Georgetown Law Library has the materials needed. Access to depository documents is available to the public during normal weekday business hours and upon presentation of a picture ID and signing in at the Security Desk at the entrance. Documents patrons will be directed by Library staff to the location of the material they wish to use.
