Interlibrary Loan for the Public and other Libraries

Georgetown Law Students, Faculty, and Staff should follow the procedures for Interlibrary Loan Borrowing

Policies for the Public

Members of the public, Public Patrons and students from other law schools do not have borrowing privileges, but may be able to obtain circulating materials through their home institution’s interlibrary loan office. Librarians at those offices should search GULLiver, our library catalog, to determine whether we own the requested titles and if they are available for circulation.

Interlibrary Loan procedures for other Libraries

Georgetown Law Library will lend circulating materials, and make photocopies (up to 50 pages) of journal articles and some non-circulating materials. We only accept OCLC (code GUL), faxed and mailed requests. Faxed and mailed requests should be on an ALA Form (preferred) or letterhead, and include, if possible, the call number of the requested material. See our online catalog for call numbers.

Library Lending Fee Schedule for Libraries and Other Organizations

Additionally, a charge for faxed materials of $5.00 for every 10 pages will be added to the above fees. An invoice is sent with each request. Libraries that have a consortial or reciprocal arrangement with Georgetown University Law Library will not be charged a lending fee.

Libraries borrowing materials from Georgetown Law Library may be assessed additional charges for materials returned late or damaged.

Materials can be picked up from the Williams Library Circulation Desk, or mailed (generally by USPS). Libraries will be advised by phone when materials are ready for pick up. Items can be sent by Federal Express for libraries that provide their account number on the request.

ILL requests are filled in order of receipt. The Georgetown Law Library ILL service is not a document delivery service, and requests for rush delivery cannot be accommodated at this time.
