About This

Rare Books Access - Special Collections Reading Room

The Special Collections Reading Room is the place where Library patrons can do research with any of our rare books, manuscripts, and archives. Any item listed in the Library catalog with a location of SPEC COLL can only be used in this Reading Room. It is located off the West end of the Library's main Reading Room, on the 2nd Floor, and houses the Special Collections Department.

Our hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Assistance outside of these hours can be arranged with advance notice.

The Special Collections Librarian requests that all patrons make an initial appointment when starting their research, in order to take full advantage of the research and reference assistance available through Special Collections. To request an appointment, please fill out this form.

Because of the nature of our collections, we have special policies about their use.
