Research Assistant Service for Faculty

This service is designed to provide high-quality short-term research assistance to faculty at Georgetown University Law Center. Research projects are carried out by a pool of eight specially trained student research assistants and supervised by the Faculty Services Librarian. Assignments are wide-ranging in both topic and scope. Typical projects include legal memoranda, 50-state surveys, literature searches, legislative research, historical research, cite-checking and editing casebooks and articles. Use of the Library's Faculty Research Service provides several major advantages for faculty. First, because the researchers are hired, managed and trained by a librarian, there is no reason for faculty to spend needless time on administrative matters. Second, the student research assistants receive advanced research instruction and continuing guidance on appropriate research sources and strategies. Additionally, finished assignments are always carefully reviewed before being sent to the faculty member, thus faculty can always count on receiving a high-quality product. To request research assistance, fill out the on-line Research Assistant Service Request, or e-mail Head of Faculty Services Librarian Jennifer Locke Davitt at jnl8@law.georgetown.edu, or phone her at 202-662-9145.
