The Library’s Faculty Services Department is seeking several part-time Georgetown Law research assistants for the summer. Faculty Services Research Assistants conduct research for Georgetown Law faculty members on a wide variety of topics. Hours are somewhat flexible but Faculty Services Research Assistants must work during the normal working week. Applicants must be 2 or 3Ls and must have superior research skills, including ability to use traditional print sources, Westlaw, Lexis and other electronic databases. Student Admin Assistant Job Description
The International Department is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the international collection and for providing customer service to library patrons. Student assistants are hired and trained to assist the staff with various tasks in support of these goals. Students with a demonstrated aptitude for customer service will also receive training in order to be able to assist at the circulation desk.
Duties
1. Filing looseleaf materials
2. Retrieving problem materials from the collection for further action by staff
3. Re-shelving materials
4. Reviewing the order of materials on the shelf for proper location
5. Data entry
6. Photocopying, general office support, and other duties as assigned

Work-Study Special Collections Student Assistant needed to work 8-10 hours per week on a variety of projects under the supervision of the Special Collections Librarian and the Special Collections & Archives Assistant. These projects may include, among others B re-shelving special collections books and materials; photocopying special collections materials; and conducting biographical and historical research. The Student Assistant must have an eye for detail and good work habits. Some light lifting may be required. Library experience and a working familiarity with basic word-processing and database programs is helpful, but not required. Williams Circulation On Call Student Assistant
For On Call students, the hours are not guaranteed each week. We need students who are flexible and can work evenings and weeks when the regular person is not available. These hours include Friday 5PM-12 Midnight and Saturday 4PM -10PM.
Student assistants work in the Access Services department as Circulation Desk Assistants and Media Student assistants. The overall goal of the Circulation Department is to support the academic and intellectual life of the Georgetown Community by providing quality public service.
Circulation Desk Assistants
The student assistant is responsible for the services relating to the borrowing privileges of the library patrons. Students also assist in the maintenance of the Reserve collection.
Responsibilities
1. Assist patrons at the Circulation Desk, answer informational inquiries, and provide effective service to all library patrons.
2. Refer patrons to the correct departments for non-circulation inquiries
3. Perform circulation transactions according to library policies.
4. Resolve unusual problems and disputes appropriately.
5. Shelve all Reserve material when returned to the Circulation Desk.
6. Check the work shelf for incoming periodicals upon arrival. Shelve the journals in the Reserve collection.
7. Date and file slip opinions as they arrive.
8. Shelf-read the assigned sections of the Reserve collection.
9. Other projects as assigned.
Ability to communicate effectively. Attention to detail. Previous experience in library desirable but not essential. Structured work schedule may include evenings and weekends.
