Annotation

Annotation can have two different meanings. First, the annotations in an annotated code are citations to primary and secondary sources on the same topic as the code section.

These annotations may include citations to cases, regulations, legislative history documents, law review articles, legal encyclopedias or other relevant materials. For more information on annotations generally, please refer to the tutorial.

Annotation also is used to refer to the articles in American Law Reports (ALR). For more information on ALR, go to the tutorial.
