CD-ROM

An abbreviation for "compact disc, read-only memory," the term refers to an increasingly rare format for delivering legal information. The format gained favor in the early- to mid-1990s, but it has become less popular since the development of the World Wide Web.

Small- and medium-sized law firms still use CD-ROMs, especially for administrative law research.
