Encyclopedia

A book or set of books that describes and summarizes the general principles of a legal doctrine. Researchers also use legal encyclopedias to find citations to applicable decisions.

The two major legal encyclopedias are Corpus Juris Secundum and American Jurisprudence 2d. Some state-specific sets are also available.
