tutorials > definitions > parallel citation Parallel citationAdditional citations for an opinion that is published in more than one set of books. For example: 265 U.S. 274, 44 S. Ct. 565, and 68 L. Ed. 1016 are all references to the same decision published in different reporters. Another method of citing cases is called "Public domain citation," which for cases includes the case name, year, state and court abbreviations, and the sequential number of the decision, but does not make reference to a particular set of printed decisions. Public domain citation is a new method slowly gaining acceptance in some states. For more information on parallel citation, please refer to our lesson. |
